The SONOFF Micro Zigbee USB Smart Adaptor, also called as ZBMicro smart relay switch, is a versatile device that transforms your USB-powered gadgets into smart devices, allowing for remote control and automation. Designed for seamless integration with Zigbee 3.0 hubs, it ensures robust connectivity and enhances your smart home ecosystem.
What is Zigbee?
Many smart home products use Wi-Fi and RF communication modes that make them more affordable than other smart home technologies, but they are not specifically IoT standards. In contrast, Zigbee is specifically designed as an ideal communication solution for low-power devices where low data rates are not required but the lowest possible time latency is important.
Zigbee is also a good choice for fixed-power actuators or light sources, or battery-powered sensors or remote controls, where Zigbee offers several times the uptime of WiFi. Zigbee devices cannot be used on their own, they need a Zigbee gateway to connect them to the home/office network.
Of course, the so-called mesh network topology is also available here in the Zigbee protocol, so the range, which is not small by default, can be easily extended by connecting Zigbee devices with 230V power supply, typically Zigbee light switches and Zigbee relays. In other words, if a Zigbee sensor is placed in a remote corner of the home, which is already out of range of the Zigbee Bridge, but a Sonoff ZBMini or similar device is operating between the two, the transmission will be ensured.
