The Shelly Qubino Wave 1 Mini Smart Relay Module is part of the Shelly Wave product family, utilizing the Z-Wave protocol for communication (868.42 MHz in Europe). As a smart home protocol, Z-Wave is specifically designed for communication between smart devices. The sub-gigahertz frequency ensures adequate signal propagation, and the Z-Wave MESH network topology allows devices further from the central unit to communicate effectively (continuously powered devices act as signal repeaters). Z-Wave devices require a Z-Wave Hub or USB coordinator (which can be connected to a mini PC) to function. The Z-Wave protocol uses standardized command classes, making it compatible with thousands of products from various brands, with up to 232 devices in a single network. Z-Wave also supports association groups, allowing direct linkages between devices within the network. Numerous parameters can be customized at the protocol level, meeting sophisticated user needs.
The Shelly Wave 1 Mini Smart Relay Module operates on 230V AC. Despite its AC power supply, its output terminals feature dry contact switching. Besides dry contact control, the module can switch up to 240V AC at 8A or 30V DC at 5A. It includes overheat protection, ensuring safe operation even in compact wall outlets. Primarily recommended for contact control, if used for voltage control, consider maximum current limits and the reactive power and inrush current of controlled devices. It is not recommended for installation behind power outlets; instead, use the Shelly Wave 1 or Shelly Wave 1 PM models.
Note: Like other smart relays, this module requires both phase and neutral wires for operation.
