The TuyaSmart Garage Door Controller Kit makes motorized, RF remote-controlled, or wall switch-controlled garage doors smart, allowing them to be remotely controlled, automated, and monitored from a mobile phone via the internet.
The TuyaSmart system is compatible with most garage door and garden gate opener motors where opening and closing can be started from a shared button using dry contact switching, meaning by closing a voltage-free circuit from a wall switch or remote control.
Compared with standard Wi-Fi relays, its main advantage is that it includes a waterproof status sensor. This means you can not only send open and close commands from the Tuya / Smart Life app, but also see the current open or closed state of the garage door or garden gate in the app.
The status sensor has a 5-meter cable and is waterproof, so it can also be installed on an outdoor gate. The controller itself, however, must be installed in a protected location, as it is not waterproof.
The TuyaSmart garage door opener is compatible with Tuya systems and can be controlled through the Tuya / Smart Life app. It also supports Google Home, Amazon Alexa voice control, and IFTTT integration.
The kit does not include the standard 5V / 1A USB power adapter required for the Wi-Fi controller. It also does not include a wall switch, remote control, or gate opener motor.
Using the free Tuya / Smart Life app on an iOS or Android smartphone with internet access, you can remotely control your smart garage door or garden gate opener motor and set scheduled opening or closing. Remote access through the app can also be shared with family members.
The status sensor feedback is displayed in the Tuya / Smart Life app as the relay status. When controlled from the app, the relay sends a short contact pulse to the gate motor to start opening or closing. The app shows the opening and closing process with a moving animation and displays the corresponding status feedback.
The ALERT function available in the Tuya / Smart Life app can send standard iOS / Android push notifications to the phone for every status change. This means the owner can receive notifications both when the door opens and when it closes.
Since the device status in the Tuya / Smart Life app is provided by the open / closed status sensor, opening and closing the garage door or garden gate with the original RF remote control is also reflected in the app, and notifications can be sent about these events as well.
The controller is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice control and can be integrated with IFTTT. This allows automations such as opening the garage door automatically when your phone arrives within a defined distance, for example within 100 meters of your home.
